Using a Station

A walkthrough of the kiosk screen for people printing at a station.

This page walks through what you’ll see at a Pluraprint station: a shared screen near your printers. What’s available depends on how your administrator configured the station, so you may not see every feature described here.

The dashboard

The station’s header shows the station’s name, along with buttons for:

  • Feature Request / Bug Report: shows a QR code to send feedback.

Below the header, the station shows a row of tabs, which ones appear depends on the station’s configured capabilities:

TabWhat it’s for
PrintersSee live status of printers at this site.
Awaiting ApprovalJobs that are processing, need approval, or had an error.
QueueAll active jobs waiting, being sent to a printer, printing, or paused.
HistoryCompleted, failed, rejected, and cancelled jobs.

Identifying yourself

Some actions (like approving a job, pausing a printer, or canceling a job) require you to identify yourself first. When you select such an action, an “Identify Yourself” dialog appears with one or both of:

  • PIN: enter your 6-digit PIN. It submits automatically once all 6 digits are entered.
  • Card: hold your ID card or fob near the station’s reader. The screen shows “Waiting for card scan…” while it listens.

Once you’ve identified yourself, you won’t be asked again for a few minutes, so you can approve several jobs or check on a few printers without re-scanning each time. Just viewing information (like the printer list) may not require identification at all, depending on your station’s setup.

If a tab requires identification just to view it, you’ll see a lock icon and an Identify button before the content is shown.

Printers tab

Shows a grid of cards, one per printer at this site, each with:

  • Printer name and model
  • Current status (Idle, Printing, Done, Error, etc.)
  • Progress bar and time remaining, if printing
  • The current job’s name, if any
  • Any active errors, unless the printer is already marked Down
  • Whether the printer is Down for maintenance; open View Details for the recorded reason and underlying errors

If the station has camera access enabled, switch to camera view to see live snapshots from each printer instead of status cards.

Depending on your permissions, printer cards may show buttons to:

  • Pause / Resume the current print
  • Stop the current print: for a job that’s clearly failing, on printers that support it
  • Clear a finished print so the printer is ready for the next job
  • Confirm Success / Confirm Failure for a finished print
  • Dismiss Errors
  • Mark Down a printer that needs maintenance, with a reason: see Marking a Printer Down
  • Return to Service a printer that’s down

When you confirm a successful print, the last dialog also handles its label. With Pickup enabled, choose Hand over (no label, collected) or Put away (label, stored). Without Pickup, an available label printer adds a Print label switch, on by default.

  • View Details for more information about the printer and its current job

Awaiting Approval tab

Shows jobs that need attention: jobs still processing, jobs waiting for approval, and failed jobs that haven’t been acknowledged yet. The tab’s badge shows how many items need attention.

For each job, depending on your permissions, you may be able to:

  • Approve: opens a dialog where you confirm the job’s name, owner, materials, and estimated print time, then identify yourself to approve it.
  • Reject: decline the job after confirming.
  • Acknowledge: dismiss a failed job’s error so it’s no longer flagged.

Queue tab

Shows every active job from the moment it enters the queue through dispatch, printing, and a possible pause. Status, progress, and time remaining update automatically as the job moves to the printer, so it stays visible for the whole queue-to-print handoff. The tab includes filters for printer model, owner, status, date, and material type, plus a search box. Depending on your permissions, you can:

  • Cancel a queued or awaiting-approval job
  • Prioritize / Deprioritize a queued job
  • View Details for the full job information

History tab

Shows completed, failed, rejected, and cancelled jobs, searchable and paginated. From here you may be able to:

  • Reprint a past job: opens a dialog to confirm/edit materials before resubmitting (see Reprinting a Job)
  • View Details
