Sites

A Site is a physical/network grouping of printers and agents: a lab, a building, a library branch, a classroom. Sites exist to handle a technical reality: an agent can only reach the printers on its own network, so printers on separate networks or VLANs are organized into separate sites.

A Site is not a tenant, a team, or an access-control boundary. It’s simply where a set of printers physically live and which agent can talk to them. (If you need to run genuinely separate organizations, each one runs its own Pluraprint deployment.)

Why sites matter#

• Printers and agents belong to exactly one site: an agent at “Main Library” can only reach printers registered to the same site, because they share a network.
• Stations (walk-up kiosks) are tied to a site, so the kiosk shows printers and jobs for the location it sits in.
• Rules and quotas can be scoped to a single site or set to apply globally across every site: handy if different locations need different policies (for example, different filament quotas per building). This rule/quota scoping is the main way a site affects anything beyond printer reachability.

If you only have one physical location or network, you’ll likely only ever have one site, that’s perfectly normal, and nothing else changes.

Viewing your sites#

Open Sites under the Fleet section of the sidebar to see a table of every site, including its name, description, and whether it’s enabled.

Creating a site#

1. From the Sites page, select New Site.
2. Enter a Name for the location (for example, “Downtown Library” or “Building 4: Maker Lab”). Names must be unique.
3. Optionally add a Description with any notes that help your team: an address, hours, or a contact person.
4. Select Create.

Your new site immediately becomes available when adding agents, printers, and stations.

Editing a site#

Select Edit on any row in the Sites table to update its name or description, then save your changes.

Enabling and disabling a site#

Use the Enable / Disable action on a site to temporarily take an entire location out of service, for example, during a renovation or an extended closure.

• Disabling a site doesn’t delete anything. Printers, agents, jobs, and history are all preserved.
• Disabled sites are excluded from job dispatch, so new jobs won’t be sent to printers there.
• You can re-enable a site at any time to resume normal operation.
