Reprinting a Job

If a print didn’t come out right, or you simply need another copy, you can reprint a past job instead of uploading the file again.

When you can reprint#

The Reprint button appears on a job’s detail page when the job is Completed, Failed, or Cancelled, and you have both the View print jobs and Reprint print jobs permissions.

You can reach a past job either from My Print Jobs > History, or from Operations → History if you have broader visibility.

If your administrator has enabled data retention, a job older than the configured deadline cannot be reprinted: its design file is scheduled for deletion. Upload the file again to print it. Reprinting a job before it reaches the deadline extends how long its file is kept.

How to reprint a job#

1. Open the job you want to reprint.
2. Select Reprint.
3. Optionally give the new job a different name.
4. For a single copy with the original materials, leave Additional options closed.
5. To make more copies or change materials, open Additional options. Use the + and − buttons or enter Number of copies, from 1 to 100. This is the number of additional print jobs; the original is not included. Each copy runs the same file and selected plate unchanged. You can also change the optional brand and color constraints; the material type stays fixed.
6. Select Reprint for one copy, or Create N reprints for several copies.

For one copy, you’re taken directly to the new job’s detail page. For several copies, the operator dialog shows how many jobs were created and a link to each copy. Stations show a confirmation and return to the queue. Each copy can be approved, dispatched and cancelled independently.

Reprint counts and warnings#

Job details and reprint dialogs show N previous reprints for the entire job family: the original, its copies, and copies made from those copies all share the same count. The original is excluded; every newly created reprint job counts, including copies awaiting approval or later cancelled. Ten workshop copies therefore add ten to the count. This is a count of jobs created, not failed prints or physical printer starts.

When the family already has at least two reprints, the dialog warns you to review previous outcomes before creating more. You can continue after reviewing the warning. A high count alone does not mean the design is defective; check the recorded outcomes and failure comments.

Counts remain available while any family member is retained, even when older members are deleted. Older history may show At least N previous reprints, or Reprint history unavailable, because past links and deleted jobs cannot always be recovered. A separate upload starts a new family.

What happens next#

• Each new print job uses the same file and selected plate and your selected name and material settings: the original job is untouched and remains in your history.
• The new job is marked with a Reprint badge so it’s easy to tell apart from the original.
• A job created through submission intake starts at Awaiting Approval (or needs definition when details are missing) and goes through the same requirements checklist and approval process as any other job, approval decisions aren’t carried over from the original.

This means a reprint gets a fresh check against current rules and quotas, for example, if a quota was tight when the original was approved, it’s checked again for the reprint.

Administrators can enable Prioritize reprints under Settings → Dispatch. When enabled, new reprints enter the queue above both standard and normally prioritized jobs. Existing queued jobs are not changed when the setting is toggled.

After choosing Failed, review the final confirmation and optionally add comments explaining the failure, such as “Bad bed adhesion.” Enable Reprint after failure there to open the reprint dialog as soon as the failure is saved. This option is off by default. Selecting Cancel returns to the outcome dialog without saving the failure.
