Adding a Printer

Once an agent is online at your site, you can add the printers at that location. Each printer is registered with a name, a site, a model, and the connection details that model needs.

Supported printer models#

Pluraprint currently supports the following printer models:

Step 1: Open the Add Printer dialog#

1. Open Printers under the Operations section of the sidebar.
2. Select Add Printer.

Step 2: Basic information#

Fill in the printer’s basic details:

• Name: a name your team will recognize, such as “Lab Printer 1” or “P1S: Bench 3”.
• Site: the location this printer is physically located at. Only agents and stations at this site will be able to see or use the printer.
• Enabled: leave this checked to make the printer available immediately. You can disable it later for maintenance without deleting it.

Step 3: Choose a model#

Open the Model dropdown. Models are grouped into:

• Production: real printer hardware (Bambu Lab and Formlabs models)
• Simulated: virtual Bambu Lab models that accept the same jobs as the physical model they emulate, without contacting printer hardware
• Debug & Testing: the configurable Debug Printer for exercising exceptional and failure scenarios

Selecting a model shows a short card describing it, including its manufacturer and capabilities.

Step 4: Connection details#

The form shows different fields depending on the model you chose:

• Bambu Lab printers need an IP address, serial number, and access code from the printer’s network settings; see Bambu Lab Printers for exactly where to find these.
• Formlabs printers need the address of your PreFormServer/Dashboard and an API key, see Formlabs Printers.
• Simulated Bambu Lab printers need no connection details. Define their loaded materials manually on the printer’s Materials page; they do not automatically sync materials or capture snapshots. After dispatch, they report printing once and report completion on the following status update. Staff still confirm the print’s outcome normally.
• Debug Printer needs no real connection details: just a label, and optional settings to control how it simulates print jobs (useful for testing).

Each field includes a description and is validated as you type, for example, an IP address field will tell you if the value isn’t a valid address.

Step 5: Save#

Select Add Printer. If anything needs fixing, the form highlights the field and explains why. Once saved, your printer appears in the printer list: its status will show as Offline until the agent confirms it can reach the printer.

After adding a printer#

• Load materials into the printer’s slots so Pluraprint knows what’s available to print with; see Materials.
• Check the printer’s status and review any connection errors: see Monitoring & Managing Printers.

Editing a printer#

Open a printer from the list and select Edit to change its name, site, enabled status, or connection details. The same validated form is used as when creating the printer.
