About Pluraprint
What is Pluraprint?
Pluraprint is software for running a shared 3D printing operation. It handles job submission, requirements and approvals, the print queue, printer management, pickup, and analytics. It sits above the slicer and vendor software rather than replacing them.
Who is Pluraprint for?
Pluraprint is for teams that run printers for other people, including university makerspaces, teaching labs, print farms, production teams, and research groups. It is most useful when submissions, printer decisions, and finished parts need a shared process.
How is Pluraprint different from a slicer or printer host?
A slicer creates the file a printer can execute, and printer software controls the machine. Pluraprint manages the job around that file: who submitted it, what requirements apply, where it sits in the queue, which printer received it, and how it ended.
Does Pluraprint replace our existing printers or firmware?
No. Pluraprint connects supported printers through on-site agents or vendor APIs and presents them in one fleet view. Your slicers, printer firmware, and vendor-specific machine controls remain part of the setup.
How long does it take to get started?
Setup starts with a site, an on-site agent where required, and at least one printer. After that, administrators configure users and roles, rules, quotas, notifications, stations, and optional modules as their workflow requires. The exact time depends on fleet size and deployment model.
How is Pluraprint priced?
Pluraprint is licensed per deployment. Pricing depends on the size of the operation and whether it is hosted, self-hosted, or air-gapped. Email hello@pluraprint.com with your fleet size and deployment requirements for a quote.

Print queue & operations
What is a 3D printing queue?
A 3D printing queue is the list of jobs waiting to run across a group of printers. A shared queue keeps job order, requirements, status, and printer assignment together instead of maintaining a separate list for each machine.
What is 3D print queue software?
3D print queue software manages how jobs enter the operation, what must happen before they can print, how they are ordered, and which printer receives them. It also keeps the requester-visible status and job history in one place.
How does Pluraprint decide which printer runs a job?
Pluraprint checks the job's site, printer model, material requirements, and the current machine state at dispatch. Operators can change job priority or mark a printer down when the floor changes.
Can requesters see their position in the print queue?
Yes. Requesters can see their own jobs and current status, including work that is waiting on requirements, queued, printing, complete, failed, or cancelled. They don't need access to the operator view to check what happened.
Can the queue prioritise urgent jobs?
Yes. Rules can assign queue priority, and operators with the right permission can prioritize or deprioritize a queued job. This lets a team define its normal order while still handling a real deadline or production issue.
What happens when a print fails?
The failed outcome is recorded on the job with its printer and event history. Email notifications can inform the requester, and a reprint can be created from the existing job without uploading and configuring it again. Failure data is also available in analytics.
Do I need a queue system if I only have a few printers?
There isn't a useful printer-count cutoff. Look at the coordination work: files arriving in several places, repeated status questions, jobs needing to be reassigned when a printer goes down, or no reliable history after a failure. A shared queue helps when those tasks are taking meaningful operator time.

Security & deployment
Can Pluraprint run offline or air-gapped?
Yes. Pluraprint can run on your own infrastructure behind a firewall or on an air-gapped network with no dependency on the public internet. The application, database, object storage, and supporting services remain in the environment you operate.
How does Pluraprint protect uploaded design files?
Uploaded design and sliced files are stored with encryption at rest. Connections among the application, services, site agents, and object storage use TLS. Sensitive credentials are encrypted separately, and role-based permissions control what each account can do.
Does Pluraprint keep an audit trail?
Yes. Pluraprint keeps an audit log for important configuration, permission, and approval changes, with the account and time attached. Jobs also keep their own event history from submission through their final outcome.
Do you train on or share our data?
No. Customer data isn't sold or used to train models. A self-hosted or air-gapped deployment also keeps application data in infrastructure you operate.
Does Pluraprint support SSO?
Yes. Pluraprint can use an existing identity provider for sign-in. Roles and permissions still determine what each account can do inside the product.

How do universities manage student 3D printing requests?
A common setup gives every student the same submission path, checks each job against the lab's rules, and lets students follow their own status. Staff use the operator view to manage approvals, printers, failures, and finished-part pickup.
Can Pluraprint support cost recovery and lab fees?
Pluraprint keeps parsed material use and estimated machine time with each job. Administrators can add project-tracking fields for a course, department, grant, or cost centre and use those values as inputs to their own fee or chargeback policy.
How does a queue stay fair when demand exceeds capacity?
Start with a queue order the lab can explain, then use rules and permissions for real exceptions. Students should be able to see the status of their own work, and operators should be able to tell why one job has a different priority.
